Lua

This article is written like a tutorial. Please edit it to have more information and documentation instead of example code and step by step instructions.

Lua is a lightweight scripting language written in C.

Porting

You can download the source code from here: https://www.lua.org/download.html

You then need to modify src/Makefile (not the Makefile at the root).

Change the variable CC to your cross compiler, e.g.

CC = x86_64-elf-gcc -std=gnu99

Then depending on your OS's level of POSIX-ness, you may need to change the include and library directories.

The build will require a variety of C library functions. These are the ones I have in my OS, which seem to be enough to get it working. Although many of these are just stubs (e.g. time functions).

Finally, to build it, from the root folder (not in the src folder), run the following command:

make generic

And a `lua` executable will appear in the source folder!
